Wanted: Service Simple JavaScript navigation help needed

Can someone help me out with a simple bit of JavaScript? I'll give you £50!

I've created a 3-level navigation menu that uses onClick to open and close sections/subsections.

I got it working for the most part, but I'm not really into JavaScript so need a bit of help. In fact it may need to be re-written, but I don't forsee it taking too long if you know what you're doing.

You don't need to use Javascript for a multi tier navigation, you can do it all in CSS.

If you do use javascript you really should have a non-Javascript fallback anyway otherwise users without Javascript enabled and some mobile devices will not be able to navigate your site.

Normally I'd agree, but the requirements of this set by the client were quite specific, click action by JavaScript, no use of CSS3 and no hover effect. The button to initiate the open/close of the menu were also separate. We have a non JavaScript fallback, but given the intended use (not a usual site) I don't see any issues.

All sorted now anyway and my client is happy and therefore so am I

you can't do a multi tier menu using css for mobile devices, as you cannot hover on touch screen devices.

Who said anything about hovering?.....You can use mobile touch events to replicate click.

Also, if you provide both a web and mobile based environment, why not aim to keep functionality as consistent as possible across all devices for improved usability? Also, for those users with cognitive disabilities, a click action menu is actually more accessible than a hover based menu.

How many people have javascript disabled these days - excluding screen readers? Good luck trying to find statistics on that, seeing as most analytics software is javascript based...

What mobile device(s) don't support javascript?

Developing countries still use pre-smart devices, old Nokia's, BlackBerry's....they don't support Javascript.
