Mmmm....that's a hard one...if you do the right thing then you run the risk of potentially loosing the domain.

Does the domain have any TM issues or is there any way they could have a case against you?

I know of someone who puts auto responders on their domains so that any incoming email traffic gets an email saying that the domain is for sale.

This he says helps with the above problem and also informs a multitude of potential buyers that the domain is available.

great idea... I just normally send them to a blackhole email dump.

Think I'll create a similar html/text respond email and contribute to the 90% spam circulating the globe!

I'm not sure where that tactic stands legally, personally i think it causes trouble, as say you have the .co.uk version of a larger companies .com. You will get lots of misdirected emails, which if all of those got a responder back saying "yeah yeah the company who has the .com is an idiot as they didn't register the .co.uk, I did. Now it's for sale for the highest price" then your asking for trouble.
