Could someone please tell me the difference between
impressions and clicks ?. For example for one of the web sites
it says 1,265 impressions and 143 clicks. Are impressions each person/visit ?.

page impressions
page requests
page views

The number of times a Web page is requested from a server. This is the preferred counting method for traffic measurement (instead of hits) because it only counts documents, not individual files. A single HTML page is counted as one page impression.

clicks are usually clicks on links.. but usually you need additional software to track these.. what stats program are you using?

Thanks for that. So if there is only 1 page on the web site
it would mean ? that there had been 1,265 visitors ?.
We are using Commission Junction ,and basically there is just 1 web page with a banner on it leading to ebay.

I thought you were talking about banners.

Impressions are the amount of times it is viewed, so refresh the page, that's another impression, clicks are the amount of times the user has clicked through. Some stats can include unique impressions and unique clicks. i.e. to the one person in a specified amount of time.

If you have a stats package on the webspace, that will give you detailed stats, hits, visitors, referrer etc.

Thanks Yep we're getting about 40,000 impressions a month
and about 4,500 to 5,500 clicks on the banner. I just think could be doing better developing the site ,

Yes it certainly sounds like it.

Do you want to swap it for icandoyouagooddealonaverylongdomainname.com? no? OK then.

Clicks can be misleading, as certain types of banners will result in alot of clicks with no sales. End of the day the only real factor is actual sales/commisions.

Ie these types of banners can get 70-80% CTR..

But dont expect to sell much with one
