So I see alot of domains for sale on ebay and some of them say stuff like ;

free transfer / push to a godaddy / 123.reg account so there
are no fees ...... ........ etc.

They are implying that if you have your own relevant account then they can push the domain onto your account for free by doing an internal transfer.

How does this work with nominet and the actual WHOIS information ?

Does changing the info after it is in your account really work, because I was wondering how they can make changes for free when Nominet charge £11.50.

I am worried that if I buy one of these 'free push' domain names it will end up going back to the original WHOIS owner upon renewal !!!

Comments please.

The transfer they refer to is transfer from their hosting account to your hosting account, with the same provider.

This is nothing to do with ownership of the domain for which you must go through Nominet and pay the applicable fees.

This was my concern, it is not just a matter of accepting the domain into your account is it ?

So there must loads of people who think they own a domain because it is in their 123-reg / godaddy account, but it is still actually owned by the person on the WHOIS register.

So what would happen upon renewal ?

.com's can be pushed for free
.co.uk can be transferred between accounts and the address can be updated but it's £11.75 for the registrant name to be changed so upon renewal the domain could be renewed and you woudl be able to use the domain forever more but not sell it.

Never buys a .co.uk off Americans, they thinks it's use a push and that's it, don't even know how to use Nominet transfer, wasted a lot of my time.
