Hi Guys

Discuss what you like in this thread whilst you are working online this Sunday. I'll start.

I am going to begin preparing for the Boxing Day Sales, plus it's Sports Personality of the Year later, so I'll probably watch some of that.

What do you mean? If you mean affiliate marketing, you've left that way too late, surely?

I have left it too from an SEO perspective. However, one of my mottos is "It's never to late to make a start", so today I'll be creating a Boxing Day Sales page, and working out who's running a sale etc. I'll then do my best to promote it on Twitter etc.

Chris, I hope you don't mind me asking. Do you do this full time or as a hobby and does it earn you a living, pocket money or nothing?

Of course I don't mind you asking. Yes I do this full time. I do the affiliate stuff along with domain investment and a few other things, overall I make a living.

Why do you ask?

Just updating my drop catching software right now (so it will catch even more... mwahahaahahaha) :)

I'm thinking about doing a Frank, 200 of my names £2750 target. Not sure if i should or not yet, if i did do it i would want it to be a realistic price expectation.

I think you should PM the list to me first ;-)

I love a good list...

^ I will do if you enjoy lists that much :). Not got the list yet, i have 428 UK domains, at least 20% are junk non renewal domains so will take me a few days to compile my top 200 and weed out the trash.

I think if you think your domains are worth an average of £10 or so then its perhaps unrealistic to expect buyers to follow an auction and bid on the ones they want over days.

What advantage do you think you get over doing this auction style, over just listing all of the domains with a BIN and saying you're having a clear out sale?

How about:

- List all domains with an individual 'reserve' price

- Conduct an auction for a week or so with a 'target' amount of say 50-80% of the reserves total

- after set time has elapsed and all bidding finished:

scenario 1 - target MET
- all domains with bids sell
- domains with no bids - 'reserves' become BIN prices which you could possibly reduce by 10-20% each day

scenario 2 - target NOT MET
- domains with individual reserves MET - sell to highest bidder
- domains with bids but reserves NOT MET - offer highest bidder first refusal on a new BIN less or equal to your reserve
- domains with no bids - set new BINs less or equal to reserve and you can then reduce say 10-20% each day until nobody cares about your thread anymore

over-complicated?
any advantage to just listing a portfolio with BIN prices?
Just a thought...

I'm not really sure i understand some of the comments. I thought one of the main reasons behind this auction type was bulk selling, which means sellers can sell cheaper. Other methods may not mean bulk prices would be viable.
