If you can't park a .Tel on Sedo etc,how do i list them on my domain management.

When might there be a .Tel auction similar to the .Me one at present ?

Thanks Doodlebug

No response

Nice to see that Sedo staff have been on Acorn and don't bother replying to your question

What's the point in this section

Have you tried adding them to sedo? Sedo still allow you to add domains even if they are not pointed at sedo.

sorry for the delay, I am waiting on an answer regarding the auction.

You can just add .tel domains to your account and you will be able to view them in domain management, just not park them.

Joanna

I see that hire.tel is up for auction with sedo.

It is already up to $3000 with 5 days remaining.

Looks like this one was a good investment.

I must say I am a bit surprised at the price as these are very new and know one really knows what they will bw worth in a few months time.

I was one that bought before reading up on them then realised after i had not hit the jackpot

Kept two of them thou.

hiya.tel
moved.tel

There is always a few decent sales as soon as a new extension is released - see .mobi - they soon dry up and everyone that didn't make a sale ends up with a load of crap they can't sell - also see .mobi :)

Hi Grant

Thanks for letting me know.

Im really new to all these domains and just buy anything I think may make me a few quid in the future.

With the knowledge you have of domains what kind of words or places will be worth a few quid.

First Name

Surnames

Famous Places

Businesses ( Hairdressers, restaurant ect )

Also how will trademark words work on this extension as it is like a global phonebook. The reason that I ask is that many trademark words can also be a surname like a couple that I have bought.

These surnames are very popular in our phonebooks so should the company come along, how would you stand in regards of saying this is a surname in the phone book. This looks as though this could be a very common problem with these .tel domains as you could have more of an argument. Why should I not be allowed to register a surname ?

I have read that companies and trademarks should have registered in the 1st or second phrase to secure there words.

Look forward to your replies and thoughts on the above for any advice

Thanks Kindly

Gav

Hi Gav,

As .tel domains are mainly intended for contact details the main thing I would register is first/last names as I suppose they could prove popular in the longer term.

If you have bought a surname that is also a trademarked term you should be fine unless you did something stupid such as filling your page up with affiliate links to the TM holders competitors for example.

My main advice though is don't believe the hype - you're much much much better off spending your money on good .co.uk domains, either by picking stuff up for reg fee or searching these forums for bargains in the sale sections, if you can't sell them then at least you have the option of putting websites on them which you cant with .tel.

There are also shed loads of good .org.uk/.me.uk domains available which you could potentially earn a living from if you can develop them into decent sites.

We do not have an .tel auctions scheduled in the near future. Once the tld becomes more widely recognised we will definitely consider this. I will keep you up to date with future auctions via the forum.

Hopeless Sedo

They must be so busy counting the money and they don't have time to answer my letter (sent already 3 times)
My question is: In order to list my .tel domains do I have to change my DNS ?
Is it too difficult for you guys to answer one simple question ?????

No, youre not parking your .tel domains at sedo (because you can't park .tel domains!) so you don't need to change the dns (Are you even allowed to change the DNS on a .tel?), just add them to your sedo account.

I don't work at sedo BTW.

Once the .tel system fails with its initial mandates, you'll be able to do what you like with the domains. Much like the .mobi debacle.

Hi Mercato

I apologise that you did not receive a reply to your letter. Please let me know where you sent it and I will look into this for you.

If you would like an immediate response to any queries you may have then please email me directly at the email address below and I would be happy to help :D

The answer is as above (thank you Grantw). You cannot park .tel domains only list them via your account.

Kind regards

Joanna

I have a few .tel domains listed for sale with Sedo.
I think it would be nice to see if the these domains have any visitors and how many.
Afternic shows these statistics but you don't

There is no plan to add this feature for .tel names currently

If the domain has good traffic you could add that information on the sales page in the domain description text.
