Wanted: Domain Appraisal Testing my domain sales site...

[devolution]

Hi all,

I've finished my CubeCart MOD to turn it into a Make Offer domain system.
If you guys want to check out my site here with some test names of mine, and let me know what you think - please have a try with sending offers etc. (I won't hold you to them ).
BuyNames - your source for UK and Global Internet Domains (Powered by CubeCart)

Any feedback appreciated!

I'll release the MOD as a paid MOD shortly....

[yesterday]

first thing - when I click on the click here to make an offer link I then have to make an offer but it doesn't say what your asking price was.
I'll already have forgotten it!

I suggest that the asking price is set as the default. or put in a buy it now at asking price button and have a make offer box as a separate entity.

Not everyone wants to negotiate and some people might be fine with your price.

second is that I think you should somehow say that the captcha is case sensitive and doesnnt have numbers. I get annoyed with these things anyhow.

otherwise I think it's really good!

Looks good...

Overall site design is pretty good... I would remove the pictures in the listings though, they are completely pointless. I would also have it as a domain list system rather than 'featured products'... the pictures take up a lot of homepage realestate and again are pretty pointless

The offers bit is good although there is one thing that should be modified... There is no currency symbol in the 'make offer' section... You ahould automate a symbol before the entry field based on the currency that the user selects.

Very good point! A 'buy now' price / button is a must!!

I'd like it more if you gave credit to DomainPrices.co.uk as the source of your recent .UK sales list

Thanks for the feedback so far...
PS. I'll add a link to the domain prices site on the page

Clean, easy to navigate, and an excellent domain!

I agree with other comments that the domains could use a "buy now" button, given that from the listing pages, the user is presented with a price, and then when they arrive on the domain page they are asked to make an offer. Perhaps the text could simply be changed to "Buy now or make an offer".

Unless I'm missing an obvious point, I'm not sure what the "TLD domains" link is for. If anything I'd replace that with "Search by TLD" and categorise the domains by TLD in that section.

The "Sale Items" link is a great idea for the bargain hunter, but it needs to truly offer sale items. Clicking through to that page after visiting the rest of the site is a bit of a let down, as it displays the same strikethrough 50% discount as every other domain on the site offers.

I thought the currency dropdown at the top of each page was a really nice touch. That is until I switched to dollars and found that all prices were then arbitrarily doubled. That would surely lower the confidence level for any US domain buyer, so if there are no currency converters that you can tie in and get an accurate rate (oanda.com?), I'd recommend removing the dropdown.

Alongside the currency dropdown is a language dropdown. Another great idea but FYI, changing the language updates the left navigation links (only) and not any other site content.

Minor point here, but for your contact page, unless you have great spam filters, personally I'd set up a quick contact form with image capture rather than listing an email in plain text. Alternatively, if you want to display the email address, consider using an image.

What is the incentive for joining the mailing list? Do you send special deals?, first dibs on great domains? Convey this to the user to give them a reason to sign up.

Finally, not everyone reads terms like I do, but if anyone other than a newbie read the first line of your terms that ".UK domains now incur a £30 + Vat transfer charge" I think they'd probably leave the site fairly quickly. Nominet only charges £10 + Vat.

Phew. I started out just intending to tell you about the US currency issue! Anyway, it's off to a great start and I wish you the best of luck with it.
