I haven't been registering names for a while but couldn't resist these this morning when it was all over Sky News, albeit to announce it's delay.

The Coastal Path - com/co.uk/org.uk (just in case .UK happens ;))

Why Did I Buy Them?

I've promised myself that when I retire I will buy a motorhome then travel right round the coastline of the UK. I remember a news item years ago about the coastal path and I thought what a cool idea to walk around the UK.

There are already paths in place so joining them up could happen

My Plan

I'm the first to admit I'm crap at building sites but then I found this theme

Geo Theme (non Aff Link) (Aff Link if you don't mind)

Even I could work with this theme and on the surface it looks like it would fit the bill, I'm investigating UK sites using it already.

All that said I've now got this site in my head which covers:

  • Coastal Walks
  • Things to do
  • Accommodation
  • Events
  • and so much more.....

I'm known for my big plans which never happen but a UK wide tourist site that covers all the bases does appeal to me.

Are They For Sale

Yes at the right price ;)

What do you think of them and the idea, am I in cloud cuckoo land or onto something?

Regards

Rob

A UK-wide tourist site based around a feature which doesn't exist.

I've heard the motivational quote 'Think Bigger' but I think this is going a bit too far.

I know it sounds crazy doesn't it! Gonna do it anyway......

I'm seeing an initial page with a 3d map highlighting the paths that are already in existence, when you click on it that part of the country pops out of the map with options to explore the area. as new bits of the path are opened they'll be added to the map....

The question is; can I make it happen?

It's a big project and needs to be a labour of love initially.
I've got CoastalHotels dot co dot uk and it arouses similar ideas.
