My first attempt at mini-siting was going horrifically downhill after about 3 months. (read lots of posts on this site and stupidy ignored any decent advice, picked a mega competitive subject, spent frigging hours and hours making it, doh)

Then suddenly last weekend it started charting really well in google and last week it made 50p. :)

Not exactly millions but it did give me great pleasure to know all my efforts finally acheived something.

It has inspired me to try again with another site but this time to do it properly (spend 3 hours making it, not 30, in a proper niche market)

Just wanted to share a little joy in my life :-D

Cheers all

That's what it's about Timmy, it's all a learning curve and there are lots of ways to do it.

That is so sad...but I do know that feeling  good luck... :)

good job! :)

also take into account that it DOES take time for search engines to start trusting it!!

Well I spoke to soon. Checking my site on google today and it has completely vanished, damn damn damn:???:

Try going for multiple words (2 poss 3 max) and use googles suggestion tool, oddly I find the one on google toolbar to be one of the best indicators. I think its more based on what people use the toolbar to search for, but I don't know for sure.

Look what the suggestions are that are most like what you personally would use to buy the product. Call to Buy domains are my best returns, oddly call to buy on individual products seem to be doing better than categories at the moment. Like for example 'mobilephones' isnt doing as well as 'nokiaphones' (they are examples), so I assume there is something going on thats prompting people to go for a particular brand rather than just any product.

There is a heat map posted an another thread by Takwa i think, the thread is called Left or Right, take a look at that, I'm not 100% sure I agree with it, but its a good indicator.
