Caught a domain late last year and had a random email from a hotmail account asking if i wanted to sell for low £xxx, I declined and said don't really want to sell but would for £x,xxx..
Next day or two, I got an email from director of company which is the same name as the domain.
Just wondered what others think about this? I can send the name via pm.

Do they have a live trademark on the term and if so what class is the trademark in? ie is it in a class which includes the type of content you have on your site?

Even if they don't have a trademark, is their name (and the domain name) so specific that a regular man in the street would automatically associate it with their company to the exclusion of anything else? (in other words would anyone on this forum - if they heard what the name was - assume you had made a bad faith registration?) If this is the case then I would imagine you may have to defend yourself...difficult to gauge without knowing the name though!

Obviously make sure there are no Adsense links on your site that would like in with their line of work and cause confusion (and be interpreted as you profiting from their 'good name' etc)

No trademarks at all.

Possibly tbh. Will pm you the name and you can see for yourself :)

Sounds like hollow threats to me.
