I read something of interest regarding leasing domains, thinkit was from this site.

It is regarding trademarks and generics.

So you have a generic domain that is good for leasing,
someone comes along, leases it from you and builds a new brand.

The new brand is successful, but instead of the company going down
the option-to-buy route with you, they get a bit underhanded and
decide that they can take ownership of the site because it is their brand.

What would one have to do contractually to prevent this from happening ?

How do you protect your rights to the domain and prove that you owned it even before the brand was created ?
