I don't get the 'gleaner' bit (perhaps you could explain?) so for me it's not really worth anything...

sorry for the long reply.

glean:

1. to collect or find out (facts, etc.) gradually or bit by bit
2. to examine or go through (books, etc.) so as to collect certain information

gleaner: someone who collects or find out facts, gradually or bit by bit or someone who examines or goes through books to collect certain information.

Also "The Gleaner" is the name of a very popular Jamaican newspaper. Consequently many people use the term Gleaner interchangeably with newspaper. Like how the real name for fax paper is not fax paper. The proper name for it is xerox paper.

So i was thinking hey Travel and glean=:D:

Personally i believe this website is good for airfare, news, cruises, hotels, vacation, and almost anything that has to do with travel. Gleaner is a real word. Also if you type in gleaner or do a google keyword search you will see that it has value.

Oh... well then... I'd say it's worth at least £xxx, xxx.

haha i was just putting it out there. furthermore in the uk Gleaner has 49,000 local monthly searches and 450,000 globally

Travel has 55,000,000 locally and 151,000,000 globally

Type in Gleaner in your search engine and you will see websites with gleaner in them.

Therefore i know this domain could never be reg fee haha i just need advice from someone who knows there stuff. Thanks:wink:

Ask yourself the question... "why would anyone type in 'travel gleaner' into a search engine or into their address bar?"

I'll agree with you on one thing. I don't think it's worth reg fee.

i dont think of it like that you see the word travel is very popular. Everyone wants to travel however gleaner is just the brand. It does not have to be that popular as a word but as long as it makes sense and is not made up then its ok.

Gleaner means to carefully look through and examine to gain information.

Therefore travel gleaner.com is about careful, precise, reliable and trustworthy information, great deals, news etc.

after doing the research no one can question the credibility of this domain name. Sure the word gleaner may not be that popular but in the right hands it has promising potential.

here is another example, no one typed in orbitz, expedia, or priceline. However today they are very popular. Travel gleaner gets to the point makes since and as i said before could never be reg fee.

It might be a word but hardly anyone has heard of it

This gives it only brandable value and undeveloped it is worth nothing I'm afaraid :(

You have the keyword tool set to "broad" to get those figures, so it means nothing, you need to set it to "exact", the figures then are:

[gleaner] 2,400 local exacts - 27,100 global exacts

As the domain name stands, it's not worth reg fee, it's worth nothing, so less than what you paid for it, if you spend a large wad of cash making a proper brand out of the word, then it might be worth something if it generates revenue, but until it does, it's worth nothing.

not true if it was worth nothing i would have got it for free. Sorry wrong again. Who cares if its not popular its still a word. It still makes sense. It still sounds cool. and its not some crappy name like "joestravelmaniaairlinetickets" or "brandnewcustommadeearplugs" or some crap like that. lol

OK... this is my last comment on the subject because I think this is wearing thin.

You say you 'know' the domain is worth at least the reg fee, but there are experienced people on here telling you otherwise. It might be worth taking your head out of the sand and just opening up to the possibility that the advice you are being give is plausible.
