.UK Announced

Oy Wide-Boy! I'll review my comments in my own good-time. I've only just logged-on since yesterday.

This Area of acorn - requires logging on to read - Savvy??

I'll answer in my own good-time. In the mean time I'll ignore You - you Rude, ignorant newbie

You've been appallingly rude to me, as have a few
others in this thread, and i'm glad to know you'll be
ignoring me from now on.

I would still like to get a reply from you 'though...

After all, I know you can't be one of those grumpy old
men, who hang around on forums all day, pretending
to have knowledge they don't possess... and moaning
about those who do have it ;)

At first I thought you were an ambulance chaser.
Then I thought you were just a genuine concernee of the new proposals, but you have the same traits that all trollers have you go for it too quickly and of course the members on here are far too experienced to be taken in. Would be helpful now if you left the thread alone.

Can I ask who you are and what your motives are?

At the minute with my tin foil hat on of course, I think you are trolling in disrupting discussions for no reason, well I say no reason but then I put my other tin foil hat on and think you might be working for *******.

Perhaps listing some sites or domains would help in declaring your interests...

There's no motive. I just want to do my part to help rectify
what I believe is a bad decision on Nominet's part.

There is no need for you to have my inside leg measurement
either; if I can't be interacted with based on my comments,
then there is no point my even speaking.

I would like to re-direct this discussion on to something much
more interesting than me 'though, and that is the subject of
Nominet's recent decision to release .uk...

Any takers? :)

No, you are not fooling anyone, you've had a good run now please leave this thread.

thought so..

Give my regards to ****** ******* when you are next in the meeting

No, you are not fooling anyone, you've had a good run now please leave this thread.

You know, you're right, I will leave.

I've never witnessed such appalling behaviour in my
life, or indeed, such fragile ego's...

Good luck with the forum - i'm out,

..a bit of a shame as you seemed to have some perhaps useful knowledge to pass on.

I think you rattled a few cages with some of your comments.. so you got a hostile reception.

A high proportion of new members got ripped into the first moment they show any sign of articulate reasoning, such a shame!

Looking back over his messages I personally think he got a bit more combative later on his in posts from when he first got here.

My main (personal opinion) issue was that he was obviously well informed about the domain industry as he mentioned characters that only people in it would really expect to know of. It would have been great to know who he was to quantify what he was saying.

Reading back his posts were mostly about fighting Nominet in the courts and conflict with them. I'm suspicious of people trying to get a fight going with Nominet as it just makes us look like people are trying for a fight.

Nominet would love that and as he wouldn't reveal his background I was personally very suspicious that he could have been an "agent provocateur" trying to get a reaction.

That's my own views on him

There is a community spirit and in the spirit of the community he declined to introduce himself although being asked politely on many occassions.

Given he has never posted before and pops up in one of the most important threads that has been on here for years, i think it is he that has not got in to the spirit of things.

What does he expect? Especially with quotes like:

well, it suggests that you are only a transient collector
of ip, with no vested interest in it. Of course, that is
exactly what some of you are

In this context, "vested" means "no interest in, or
intention to develop"

I would think that is probably about 5% max of people on this forum. Otherwise all we would have is a "domains for sale" page. No other sections/topics would be required.

And Edwin is also 100% correct.
It is one of many parallel possible intents, and as legitimate as any other "intent" under Nominet's T&C.

And to end with the quote below is just rediculous.
"I've never witnessed such appalling behaviour in my
life"

Only a troll uses statements like this.

......................

The last time I saw "newbies" posting like this was when Jim Davies was running for a place in Nominet. All of a sudden they just appear. No other posts, ever. Just joined to post on that particular thread.

Not from me but I'm told he is the guy behind £.com and lots of other domains.

Maybe he is friends with the you know who's that have so many votes at you know where lol

Either way I wish he had stayed. Honest enough to use his own name and photo.

A good start and the introduction is not really necessary is it. More trollish badgering someone to introduce imo.

Acorn needs people to turn up unknown and with an opinion, it's the life blood of a leading forum surely.

Those that think people should earn the right to speak. Get a life.

Is he a transient or a developer?

How do you know that? How do you know it is the person you think it is?

I don't think anyone is saying that. Given past occurences, I think people are wary/suspicious when a newbie pops out of the woodwork with the intention of only posting on one topic.

Surely as a domainer/investor/transient/developer they have more to offer the forum than just one topic when the whole forum is all about what they are all about. Domains

http://dnc.org.nz/second_level_proposal_c1_update

The Domain Name Commission (DNCL) is consulting with the New Zealand public on a proposal to extend the .nz domain name space by allowing registrations directly at the ‘second-level’.

Submissions received

The first consultation period closed on 27 September 2012 with 115 submissions received. Submitters included individuals, registrars, professional and government organisations.

The high number of submissions indicates that this is a topic of keen interest to many, and the DNCL thanks all those who took the time to make their views known.

All issues raised in the submissions will be considered as part of the DNCL’s decision-making process.

Summary of submissions

No clear consensus- there was no clear ‘supporting’ or ‘non-supporting’ consensus across the submissions. Some submitters support the proposed change; others do not.

Planned approach -some of those against the proposal are in favour of the DNCL’s planned approach should registrations at the second level go ahead. Other submitters proposed changes to the planned approach.

Impact of change- a number of concerns were raised about the impact of any change. Others were concerned that there was no clear reason given as to why .nz should move away from a system that, at present, is working very well.

Next steps

After reviewing the submissions, the DNCL Board has decided to seek additional information and carry out further research before making a recommendation about registrations at the second level.

As part of this research stage, it is likely that some submitters will be asked to expand on points they have raised and discuss possible solutions.

This work will be carried out over the coming months. In addition, a second consultation round is set down for early 2013.

While this will extend the decision-making process, the Board thinks it important that the proposal and all public submissions are given full and careful consideration.

Re our, thankfully not to return Mr Arrogant

To my mind he started to be sarcastic almost from the begining - I don't have a problem with those coming across arrogant occasionally providing you can back it up. I'm not saying he couldn't but, he choose not to

The "I'm too special" to have to introduce myself attitude stunk. Sure I know we can all get out-of-line on occasions but hopefully we compensate with some recognition or comment when we've done so.

I think he thought of himself as some sort of "Special-one" A Guru without substance. He may well have some history - Surprising he had only just found Acorn then - No uk domains - but an instant expert constantly stating the obvious. This man was playing to the crowd, wouldn't be surprised if thats his lifes mission

Acorn appears to have grown substantially over the last year or three , Politeness to new members is actually a trait of Acorn - Wonder why he should have found it missing ??

His final - message read " If I'm not in control of the Toys" -"Then I'm Not Playing"

Can we please keep it on track with direct.uk discussions. Would hate to see a thread closure. Thanks.

Yes -Indeed

Lets hope it's the end of such "Pro and anti" comments from all

Interesting to see that NZ needs more time to make it's mind up.

Interesting also to see that Nominet removed the reference to it in the latest version of the consultation document. Was originally in the FAQ: "Why Now".

The DNC asked them to remove it as it was factually incorrect.
