Hi all.

Would like to know peoples comments on URL Redirects.

Say i have domain.co.uk and have purchased 10 Domains, ie domain1, domain2, domain3 etc

Which do you think it is safest for my domains1,2,3,4,5 etc for SE point of view

a 301 Permanant direct
or
a 302 Temp direct.

would be interested to know others views :)

anyone have and views :)

Not sure what you are trying to do but if you redirect all your domains to a single domain then you also redirect any incoming links, making the main domain more powerful while the others will be dropped from the search engines.

this is what i am doing yes, but what i mean is will this kill the site they are pointing to ??

No, you can't hurt your main site's SE rating by redirecting other domains to it.
Use 301 Redirect and everything will be cool.

so 301 it is then :)
i have done this on about 5 domains this morning, just wanted to clarify before i do all others

cheers..

anyone explain the difference? 301 302 501 - sounds like a pair of jeans to me!

.....which leads to "why do we say a pair of trousers" when its only one object?

ok, will parking a domain ruin the main domain or should i stick to 301 redirects ??

Still not sure what you are trying to do.

Parking domain A cannot hurt Domain B

However, parking domains means that, more often than not, they are penalised in the search engines due to duplicate content problems. Thousands of domains all with the same content means you will probably sink without sight, you won't be banned just penalised, you may score for your domain name, if you are lucky, but very little else that people actually search for.

i am wanting to divert all my best hit domains to my main site, but i dont want to kill my main site by sending traffic to it, so what i want to know is what is the best way to do this.

301 permenant
302 temporary
url forward
parking the domain on the account on cpanel

You won't hurt your main domain by doing that but if your other sites get search engine traffic it will kill them, however, if it's just type-ins they get there's no problem.
