One of our recent surveys had about 6,000 responses and we are keen to wring as much value out of it as possible, particularly in terms of marketing/PR.

Does anyone have any experience in this? Or any links to resources which would help? There isn't much of note that we've been able to find online.

Cheers

Is it the kind of survey that can lend itself to "white paper" treatment.

Or is it more the kind of thing that would catch the eye of the tabloids, Buzzfeed etc.?

The best way to take advantage of it is likely to be highly dependent on the subject matter, audience, and how "newsworthy" or novel the information revealed by your survey is.

Also worth thinking about whether the material lends itself to infographic(s)

Hi Edwin,

All of the above really. Some quite factual stuff, some quirky PR fodder, etc.

Infographics are definitely on the list.

Have you ever done anything similar?

Martin

Thanks Edwin. How did you go about promoting it?

Twitter, Acorn, some other domain forums, plus I emailed a personal note to all the major domain blog owners, and some of the key SEO blogs as well, plus other news outlets that had covered PPC optimisation recently. Took a lot of Googling, but it got some decent traction and people still quote it from time to time because nobody's come along with a better test. (That's a literal statement of fact i.e. not meant to imply that it's impossible to do a better test, but simply that nobody has!)
