Hi all,

The core feature of the new platform I'm working on is an intuitive interface for domain name inventory management and showcasing.

I'm currently contemplating how best to handle domain ownership verification.

I could use WHOIS registrant information or DNS record matching but this could be a real pain for a user who wants to import hundreds or even thousands of domains at once, especially since WHOIS is limited to 1000 lookups per user too. Another approach could be sending an email to a designated email address on the domain, but again for hundreds of domains this would be another pain.

Am I overthinking this? Is it overkill to even do this and should I just post moderate submissions and delete/ban accounts that have been flagged with suspicious looking domains?

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas they would be greatly appreciated. :D

Thanks,
Dave

Whois2, 100,000 queries per rolling 24 hours

Yeah I think it's looking more and more like Whois2, although that limits each user to 1000 per 24 hours I think that should be fine though really...

So checking the whois address against their profile address is seemingly the way. Thanks so far guys! :D
