Seems Vodafone run a similar financial model to my domain investments :p

Vodafone made a £14.9bn ($27.9bn) loss last year - a record for a UK firm - after writing down the value of assets.

However, the real income generated by the Mannesmann did not live up to the £112bn price tag, and now Vodafone has adjusted the value of its subsidiary on its books - a process that accountants call a write-down
I believe i also do a lot of write-downs

I can't stand Vodafone, not that any of the other UK operators are much better, but they are certainly at the bottom of the pile in my books.

They acquired the second biggest cell phone operator of Turkey for $4.5bn. The deal is completed and money is transferred.

Crap, my phone bills are going to get a price hike then :(
I am assuming they mean 1000 million when they say billion?
