hi,
We are going to start hopefully soon our hosting.co.uk and we want to have ASAP an affiliate system online, we do not want to run it our self. We need marketing.
1. anybody here having experience in being merchant in one or more affiliate networks?
2. what are the big differences?
3. any network which I should definitely avoid to talk to?
4. any network to which I should talk?

Thx!

I've met up with affiliate network staff and having spoke to other affiliates/merchants, I would seriously look at Paidonresults.net for starters.

As an affiliate I love there technology and reports, better than the other networks.

thank you mally.
I filled out their form, lets see what they tell me.

This is what I found when researching being a merchant >

It cost about £1500 to set up, you need about a £3000 deposit to cover commission payments to the affiliates, also they charge 30% of what you have paid affiliates each month so if you paid out £2000 then they would charge you £600 and I believe they have a minimum charge of say £500 so even if you only paid out £200 in commission it would cost you £700 in total, only what I read on a marketing forum about 2 years ago.

Yes, this is also my understanding while reading their terms.
But there must be differences between the networks. Affiliate business is a competitive business, I think the network of publishers is that what counts.
I also do not want to be one of 1000 Merchants that provides another hosting service.
I believe it can pay off with a brand like hosting.co.uk.
