Almost forgot the introductions, so here goes. (yes...wazzup is a well used South African phrase...;) At least i didnt say “Bro”...

Living life with the wife and kid in Essex after quitting a 5 year stint in the London rat race, miss it a bit, but settling down here better than i figured i would. Have to say, so far so good, have only had top notch encounters here, so im thinking i'll hang around. Been around the block a few times with different ventures, but im certainly a late commer (hopefully not a late bloomer) in the Domainers world. In between my occasional daft questions i usually pick up the pace quite quickly, so hopefully soon i'll blend right in and hopefully be able to help others out too.

Again thanks for the warm welcomes so far, outstanding forum and contributors.

Cheers

Hello, at least your still near London and you have all them Essex girls

Tell us some domain names you have :?:

Hey doodlebug

Yea, youre right i do have all them Essex gals around here somewhere. Havent seen too many of them keyword rich type Essex lasses around my neck of the woods though.Besides im not much into the skinny pretentious, dolly and heavy makeup types (no offence to any heavily makeuped types on here..lol), i like em well done, you know, real woman!....;) Perhaps one day after I’ve had my midlife crisis, Id like a different flavour. Besides that kid i mentioned i had, it's a girl!...shoot...gotta get outa Essex..

In terms of domains, well ive got the one besides my own...cutpriceaudio.com which i figured would have some SEO value, except i dont know how to develop SEO type sites just yet, so it's parked with Sedo.
Not a bad choice for a first domain, but i could have done better. I've spent last week looking for domains and i'll spend this week doing it again, compile a list and break them down in terms of relevance, possible "real" value and announce them. Got a list of about 80, but have only short listed 5 out of that list so far, still looking though. Might loose a few of those by the time i actually want to register them, so gotta plan ahead and maybe shortlist 7 or 8 as backups. I want just 6 to start with thought. Thing is they will be .com for now. Need to get to know how the .uk market works first before i get into that, but i will eventually. Im thinking of getting the 6dom's in bulk with go daddy, seems to be their thing in a big way so i imagine theyd be a good choice?

So just the one for now.... CutPriceAudio.com Id be interested to know all your thoughts about this domain.

PS: Anybody know how i can get a avatar loaded up or can you only do that once youre more established on here?

Cheers

Welcome to Acorn HiQ,you can load the avatar from the "User CP" link at the top of the page, and then go to "Edit Avatar"

All the best

A quick look tells me there is no real monthly search volume for the term 'cut price audio', obviously plenty for 'audio' or 'audio xxx' (speakers, etc) and also plenty for 'cut price'....but no real searches for the two terms together.

In fact, there are more searches for 'hair cut price' than 'cut price audio' but this doesn't necessarily mean there is no value. There are moderate search volumes for 'audio prices' 'audio deals' etc and you could exploit that avenue.

So, to me, that domain would have more value as a working website with customers, rather than as a domain investment.

Just my twopenneth....

Thanks for the advice deliajen, in the avatar section however there isa box ticked that says i disable avatars and it wont let me un-tick it. Not a problem thought, just thought id ask.

feKIX: Hey i asked, so no worries. I realised after i got it that it was almost a no floater. Fortunately now i know of some useful tools to use, so fingers crossed i get it right next time. Got real excited the other day when i got a phrase with almost 2million results in "google", then i realised that was just people talking about it, not that it was a phrase searched for that much....ohwell. It was almost like when you thought you were going to get jiggy for real the first time and then the girls parents come pick her up from the party just as things start looking up....very disappointing ..(yes at that age, somethings you never forget, especially the ones that got away) (Apologies if that statement offended anyone, most of us SAFAS are known to be a little direct sometimes, I’ll tone it down for the ladies and the sensitive type males on here…;)

Don't worry, there are some real rude people on here :p

Yea ive seen a few stern responses and threads including one guy who got ripped to shreds for pretending to wanna buy his own domain....that was good stuff right there....:D I dont remember that thread but it was hilarious to see this guy back paddle and then eventually admit it...ha ha…

Ok, besides Cut Price Audio (which im now slowly developing instead of trying to sell) i have decided to start with a slightly diverse bunch of names to start my portfolio with, so i can see what goes where and how. Believe it or not all of these names apart from Babybookmart.com is straight out of the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary.

BabyBookmart.com

DeadMarch.com

Professedly.com

Strikeoff.com

Let me know your thoughts on these as a start. I will be getting a few .uk quite soon.

Cheers

Even at reg cost, you need to spend your hard earned wisely. Not trying to piss on your parade, but they're not really earners to be honest, and at best they're going on the same 'slowly developing' list as your first one.

You're also far more likely to find a .co.uk with earning potential than the same as a .com. Not easy, but easier!

Cheers DoubleTap, your right though. I think what i need to do is to pace myself and not jump in s soon as you think you got something. Ive been paying far too much attention on other domaining issues trying to avoid making some mistakes there, instead of focussing on the key criteria which is to get the names right.

I think if i want to make it in this business, i need to quickly start realising there is a massive difference between knowing a names is valuable and thinking a names is valuable. And not just doing the research, but doing it right.
