I've just spent a day going through my main website checking the spelling - long overdue.
Recommendation
The tool I used is a Firefox plug-in called SpellChecker v1.3.2 with British English Dictionary 1.19.1. It highlights dodgy spellings on a web page in the colour of your choice. Dead easy.
I was horrified how many spelling mistakes there were in my thousand or so pages. The site is approaching it's millionth visitor so there must be tens of thousands of people who now think the site is run by illiterate morons (me).
How embarrassing.
