I'm writing as the co-founder of WeHangHere.com, a successful
location-based social networking site, featured at number 4 in the
'Top UK Web 2.0 Startups to Watch in 2007'.
Following our launch at the end of 2006, word-of-mouth has delivered
user-submitted venues in over 70 cities worldwide. These are plotted on
a tightly integrated Google Maps interface, which invites users to
explore their surroundings for new venues, new people and new
experiences.
We encourage our users to exchange messages, post on each other's
messageboards and arrange meet-ups; with no aspiration of being the
definitive venue review source, our user-submitted locations are points
for meetings and interaction. This makes it a great foundation for a
successful mobile social networking site.
In recently months, WeHangHere has featured in the Observer ('Under 30,
Online and World-Beating'), BBC Focus Magazine, New Woman, Marie Clare,
The London Paper, local radio and extensively on the blogosphere;
Techscape made us number four in their '25 UK Web 2.0 startups to watch
in 2007'. We are continually adding new features and have been
delighted with the positive feedback and quick growth of the site.
Due to an alternative opportunity, I do not have the amount of time I'd
wish to spend on the site, and am therefore seeking someone who
recognises the opportunity to build on strong foundations to realise its
strong potential.
Given time constraints, I'm keen to resolve this sooner rather than
later and am talking to a number of interested parties.
