Hi to all,
I have been visiting this forum not from yesterday - great one, dedicated to domains, with people pros in co.uk domains. However, before starting I would like to ask you a couple of questions.Next year I am going to university,my parents aren't able to pay for my studies(I'm from Europe - Bulgaria,Greece this part of the EU),and I'm going to study in Wien,Hague or Groeninghen. That's the reason I want to save some money for my future(well I would like to buy myself also a car,but it's not leading the university in my plans).I know that selling/finding domains is not easy at all,but I'm searching all day.4-5 hours daily I'm spending infront of the PC,searching for valuable domain names.I have list ot 600 that i found with keywords in them. Now I will buy some of them and list them here - hope to earn some money. However,i would like to ask you(****) a couple of questions in order to know which domains to buy.

-i will buy and resell the domains, without developing them.Does that mean, that they can't cost more than 150/200 USD,or that doesn't really matter, when the domain name is OK.

-I'm searching only for products that are and will be sold through internet.I think that when domain can sell something(digital products, pills, etc) will be more valuable, than a domain that only present something(for example a car blog, where a blogger presents upcoming cars).

-All the domains are with 2 words at most less then 10 charters(well those one which I'm thinking to register). No dashes, only existing,KEYWORDS.

-Now about the results:Which is better, more results when searching or less(you know in the upper right corner it displays RESULTS 1-10 FROM ABOUT 680 000 for example. So more or less results. There are 2 points of view(I think so).1 More results - more competitors, but also more searches.
2.Less results - less competitors - less searches.Am I right?By the way where I am able to check montly searches?

-Domain N1 - WEB SEARCH - 688 000 results / UK PAGES - 9000 results
-Domain N2 - WEB SEARCH - 4 460 000 results / UK PAGES - 43 000 results
-Domain N3 - WEB SEARCH - 9 460 000 results / UK PAGES - 47 000 results-
-Domain N4 - WEB SEARCH - 70 300 000 results / UK PAGES - 822 000 results
-Domain N5 - WEB SEARCH - 3 000 000 results / UK PAGES - 35 000 results

Thanks in advance,to the people who are ready to answer my questions.

Try the google adwords keyword tool.
https://adwords.google.co.uk/select/KeywordToolExternal

Be careful hand regging domain names, you can end up spending a fortune on worthless domains. Be especially careful with the adwords tool too, it's known to be out by a long shot a lot of times.

If you are just starting out, I would suggest keeping your cash, invest in 1 good domain and develop it, and invest your time, not your money. This is a safer way to try and get a return.

Where in Bulgaria are you going? I'll be living just across the Danube in Calarasi shortly :)

I won't ivest a fortune.Just 40 bucks. However,I think to make those pages redirecting with my affiliate ID to digital products. When a sale converts - that's good :).I'm not going to Bulgaria,i live in Bulgaria, the capital of Bulgaria - Sofia. What will you advise me,domain with more search results or with less search results?

The more search results is obviously better, but not in google itself, in the keyword tool.

Never been to Sofia, but did visit Bulgaria once. Got an ancient ferry from Calarasi to Silistra. That was an experience :)

If you want to invest 40 bucks, which is about 25 pound I think (exchange is always fluctuating) I'd suggest regging 3 .co.uk domains, then park them at My Aff Site UK - Run your own affiliate shop and promote them like mad. You will get around 75% revenue from myaffsite, and it costs nothing to use.

We are a nice small country with under 7 000 000 population, but we also have our pros :).However, are this Monthly Search Volume when showing 4 400 mena that this month it was searched 4 400 or it is 4 4000/440000(I gues only 4400).Also is it specific for the uk(when trying from adwords.google.co.uk) or it for all google sites?

Welcome to the forum.

The search tool provides a total figure of the previous months searches, i.e. the search volume for July, so yes 4400 searches in your example.

You can view the search figures for other countries by changing the country setting, using this above the search panel:

'Results are tailored to English, United Kingdom Edit'

I think it will depend on your location. You will see a local search volume and a global search volume. The local one is the one you want. Just ensure the local is UK and not Bulgaria.

For UK domains you can disregard the global search volume as meaningless. The search volume is for 1 month.

If you want to make money in affiliate marketing, then I'm assuming Bulgarians have the same attitude to ecommerce that Romanians have, they just don't trust buying stuff online yet. So stick to UK domains, and the UK market.

My brother in law from Bucharest just can't believe that folks make a fortune with affiliate marketing, because online buying is not mainstream and not trusted there. YET

Was the same here in the UK 5 - 10 years ago :)

If you want some fast affiliate cash, stay away from pills and medicine etc, no-one likes them as they are the major causes of spam. Buy some bike domains and you can't go wrong :)

Well I think I will just list them here for sell,if they are good enough I will get good money for them,or I can rent them - a lot of possibilities.I prefer to search for domains and add to my portfolio, instread of developing any of them...

That's a risky strategy. Unless you are confident you have picked out some great hand regges others have missed :)

I will register them in 1 hour with my debit card and will publish them here - just checking the best registrator :)

See domainprices.co.uk for examples of UK domain sales.

Yes, as a general rule, domains relating to products or services that can be sold over the internet are better.

Rgds

Jus registered them, I will now post an apprisal in the section.

Looking forward to seeing your names. If they are any good I might make an offer :)

When deciding what domains to register it's really worth thinking about how you would develop them, even if you only intend to sell, so in the event you can't sell them on you have some clear direction to monetising.

With regards domain rental, I think really only the most exceptional domains can be taken down that route & you would maybe struggle to lease average domains, unless you developed & build traffic up.

Its well worth reading this recent thread for advice on registering better quality domains:

I also found 2-3 one-word domain names. However, they are synonyms of no-often used words, but still are free to be registered. Is it worth registering them or...?

Probably not.
