If it's important for you - and so you can at least get some sleep - why don't you book it with one of the drop catchers? Shouldn't cost more than £30 or £40.

Stephen.

Yep. If it's a half decent name that will appeal to others, there's very little chance of you being able to hand reg it.

Of course, you're right, but having fallen on tough times recently, I really cant afford even 30 or 40 to spend on this.

I'll take my chances, wish me luck :)

See if it is booked at caught.co.uk or domainmonster.com - if it is, you don't stand a chance of hand regging it, so you might as well book it with a dropcatcher, or forget it and get some sleep.

Reluctant to check the domain on those sites, it's possible they monitor the submissions and catch them knowing there's someone interested in it :)

Wow, putting your head in the lions mouth there, saying something like that here.

Do you have any evidence to back that up?

I can see why he's saying it though, it's happened before with some of the US registrars in the past – might still be going on.

But yes, both of those are respected companies so highly, highly unlikely, tbh.

P.S. Caught.co.uk is owned by an Acorn member.

perhaps I should have said "those [kind of] sites". Nothing was meant personally. No offence meant to anyone, if they are involved with the sites mentioned, I know nothing of them or any other drop catching service.

I'm just being cautious.

You'd rather sit hand regging the name all day than pay £30?

I've heard everything now.
