If you wanted to register a domain name for building a good search engine position (primarily in the UK, as that is where the site will be hosted) but .co.uk and .com were taken - and .org , .org.uk , .net and .me.uk were available - which one would you choose?

If we are talking google uk then without a doubt and from experience .org.uk

Hope that helps :)

I was under the impression that Google would view Keyword.org.uk the same as Keyword.me.uk.

Why would it rank .org.uk above .me.uk?

Only recently I have to agree, Ive got two domains using keyword.org.uk to pos. 1 and 3 within almost zero work. The keyword doesnt have to be spot on because google links similar words together. The attempts ive had for co.uk with same work always rank lower.
