I have a number of domains that I have queued to register however, rather than register all of the various TLD extensions, I was wondering if some TLD extensions are better than others for valuation and search engine positioning purposes?

For example, if my domains are available in .net and .biz variations, which is better? Or are they the same?

Thanks in advance!

uk.com - brilliant!
:D

PS: use the search facility this has been done everymonth for 2 years

[edit]apologies for been a co*k!

Check out DNJournal dot coms recent sales and you'll see sales across all extensions... Patterns may emerge that will help you in your decision making as it can vary from name to name...

I reckon the order is probably:

.com - premier extension, most widely known, most likely to get traffic from direct browser address bar type-ins
.co.uk - If you are targetting UK consumers, then .co.uk is very important, could even be above .com when you are targetting UK.
.net - next best thing if .com not available
.eu - will grow in popularity I reckon and possibly overtake .net. It's nice and short so I like it. Obviously good for targetting Europe.
.org - next best thing to .net for affiliate sites, but more associated with charities, so not ideal for business but can be used
.biz - also worth consideration if .net not available, good for business trademark owners but not so good for domain name traders because more protected through registration rules, uptake of extension hasn't been great

agreed
i only look at .co.uk's and the odd .com if its available (if it is then check your spelling as its either wrong or your registering a crap generic!) anything else would break my piggy bank!

.net - is the alternative global tld if nothing else is available, .eu is more 'local' but will be interesting to watch popularity. I would like to see more popular global tlds rather than these local based extensions. I think any business should have a global presense and a more local extension for its clients base. At the moment .com domination makes it hard to break globally?

Totally agree Rob...

Should be .com - .de - .co.uk to my mind...

German language .coms go very well too...

Accellerator, guys,

thank you for your feedback here, it helped with my decision! I had a number of .biz and .net variants on my register list and so I just registered the .net's and left the .biz's. It meant my budget stretched twice as far!

I personally go for .co.uk's first, then .coms (if I can find any!) and now .net's.

Cheers!
