Got an old domain I forgot all about until I got an expiration notice and to renew the domain name will cost £94.00 in total, how exactly are these costs just?

transfer it to someones tag, renew it and transfer it back..

i thought the re-regesister fee was the same as the cost to register i.e a couple of quid. Is that not the case?

Yes, that is the case, however if you do not renew then Nominet will cut down a rainforest and send you paperwork explaining that

a) you have yet to renew
b) that you can renew directly with them for £94

Which is nice.

Never realized they sent stuff out, I thought one of drop catchers main sources was from customers who have not renewed their site. So they are informed by post too?

Also, i take it not many people pay nominate (£94) and instead just the registrar?
