Wanted: Website Review Why not :)

[PaceUK]

Just noticed this section and thought why not.

http://playdefensegames.com many 100's of hours have went into this but always looking to improve so be as blunt as you like lol

Thanks

Hi PaceUK,

I've a little experience with arcade sites myself so I thought I'd chime in here and give you my opinion

Firstly the look of the website is ok, the main header could do with being replaced with something a little more professional looking, and either made smaller (height-wise), so that you won't need to over optimize the image too much as it is now, it's quite pixelated, and looks a little rough.

With any new arcades being created now, I would advise webmasters too make sure they have some title text, just below the header, since we all know google now dishes out penalties for lack of content without the user having to scroll down, and it wouldn't hurt to include keywords you are targeting in this content either. This is not a MAJOR deal as you haven't used too many ads so it would be unlikely you would get a google penalty, but better safe than sorry ?

I'm liking the features and navigation, everything is easily found and loading times are fast, so good work on the most important elements !

The only other bit of advice I could give is to maybe think about showing or providing information to users on the benefits of registering with the website.

Overall I think you've done a good job, so good luck with the site

Edit : Oh and just quickly, if your TD section is short for Tower Defense, I would maybe think about actually using the full keyword, since you could be potentially losing out on those looking for Tower Defense games.

[PaceUK]

Do you run an arcade yourself work/ed for one?

Yeah I agree on the header, I'm still trying to come up with some idea for it. Not having much luck lol

I have the about us at the bottom, I'm not sure I could move this higher without compromising the look of the site.
But I do have a site description and lots of keywords

The news section has one or two posts about the benefits of registering but I should probably show something that more users will actually come across, thanks.

I cant actually fit Tower Defense in the sidebar without changing the font size and it just end up looking pretty strange, however TD also gets a fair few searches and has a lot less competition so this could end up being a good thing.

Thank you very much for the feedback Silverz, really appreciate it

Hey PaceUK,

That's no problem at all, I'm happy to give my opinion where I can

I do own a few arcades at the moment, and update them on a weekly basis. I also own a few cracking domains which I haven't got around to developing yet unfortunately

A nice design and large selection of games. I like the star rating system too, and hover over descriptions. It loaded fast for me too. I notice that's sometimes an issue with flash game sites. I always liked Qwerty Warrior 2. Do you have that one (assuming that it counts as a defense game)?

Haha. Thanks for that . Here's another game I've played way too many times: http://www.gamesolo.com/flash-game/pacxon.html Not really a defense type game though.

Oh and that Raft Wars game. It's a bit like worms. It's funny how everything went from being about the graphics, then fast forward a few years and people are raving about playing the wii and flash games, haha.

I actually think flash may die in the next few years
