I don't get the spot-the-ball photo and rules. Is the photo a staged shot and there never was a ball, or has the ball been digitally removed? The judges say where they think the ball would most likely be, ignoring where it actually was - is that it?

There never was a ball in the shot. Clever geeky people can find balls that are removed. Two professional referees and a linesman decide the ball position. And they don't even know who they are yet. Cheating is not possible at any level.
