And I bet that sale included all of Woolworth's domain inventory.

Woolworths.co.uk already says "Woolworths is a brand of Shop Direct Home Shopping Limited".

If they've picked up the Ladybird brand, then they might have bought the Chad Valley brand too!?

chadvalley.net is available for anyone who likes TM domains!

Good move, and good luck to them. Loads of goodwill still in the brand.

great news, the legend that is woolies gets to survive

they should have realised long ago running all those branches and overheads is nuts, more and more will have to go exclusively online too. good news for us :D

i hate shopping full stop, but did like woolies, one shop and you could get all you needed in there, kids toys, clothes, cards, cds etc. real shame

You have to wonder how many of the other chain stores are going to shut up shop and go online. Blockbuster Video must be another... anyone why has used LoveFilm will realise the advantages and cost savings involved. Having high street shops really doesn't work for a lot of them now. I think this recession will really change the high street for ever - force companies to change their ways or go belly up.

i agree 100%

plus most kids hate shopping and all men do, so it's only the birds.

they can put their rabbit away and get their mouse out

(a rampant rabbit that is ;-) )

you owe me a keyboard.....,i have just spat my coffee out all over my bloody keyboard...;)

I guess they could program up an AJAX pick and mix system, where you pick online and it's then picked by cheap labour and posted out to you...

I walked into Wollies before it shut and there was a workshop grinder on the shelf?

Be interesting to see the details of the deal?

Just makes me wonder though as sites make money, high street stores losing money, why are some good names not selling?

Excellent :D

Wonder if it would include www.co.uk as that still points to the Woolworths Group website.

The whois for woolworths.co.uk is still showing as Woolworths PLC, so I would assume there's still some work to be done on tidying up the domains.

I should imagine if they are buying the brand and anything else left of woolworths it will take a few weeks/months to wrap up legally.

They probably just gave them access to use the website in the mean time.
