i own the name "ForHire.org.uk"

i have had an idea to get a site up and running where on the homepage you are faced with a map of the uk,
you click on your area of the map,
and you are taken to a list of things for hire in your area by all different comapanies.

motorhomes
skips
limos
bouncey castles
diggers
mini bus
etc etc the list goes on

advertisers would pay a fee to advertise there service £5 a month or somthing? i dont know?

just a quick thought dont know if its any good or would work?

all comments welcome.

cheers.

wayne.

If you have the legs then yes. org.uk thou. I get people saying "are you part of the council" when using .orgs before.

i know what your saying about the "org" thing, but i think in some cases it makes a site look and sound more......i cant think of the word......legit:rolleyes:

say i wanted to look into it a bit more, what sort of costs am i looking at to get this up and running as i have never had a site professionally made.

anyone wanna be a partner;)

thanks chaps.

I like your idea - but it seems like a heck of a lot of work. I know selling the ads (the £5/month listing) will also be difficult as people will need convincing of a new service.

One thing to look at would be the advanced search functions of Google. Maybe there's a way to create a site that effectively uses their API to provide something useful and that has a wow factor for users:

hire - Google Maps

^If you us the whole code here in your browser you'll see business locations across the country tagged for the word 'hire'. I think that's a start.

About .org.uk I have a few my best is probably event /org/uk (as in event organiser) but am yet to develop - fingers crossed.
