Looking for a portable wifi device and recommendations appreciated. Had the original XDA and was not greatly impressed by the windows mobile O/S back then, has this new Win mobile O/S improved. Ideally a real O/S in an ultra portable size would be better.

I've had an XDA IIs for over 2 years and that must be the longest i've ever had a phone so I guess I'm happy with it (camera is rubbish though). I looked at the exec but the only extra it really gave me was 3G which isn't currently available in my area so haven't upgraded. I would upgrade though if/when 3g becomes available.

Depends on exactly what you want to do with it. I use mainly for email (outlook) and occasional web browsing (gprs rather than wifi). Will not work with java sites though or Barclays stockbrokers !!! (pop up confuses it) which is a shame because that was one of the reasons I bought it.

PS Don't know if still true but online deals (cost of phone and the tarrif) were always much better than stores. Tried to buy from O2 store and they could not match the O2 online deals which was a shame because the guy in the shop was very helpful and I felt a bit guilty about not giving him the sale.
