Hi all,
I have been looking at this site for a while and am keen to try to improve my knowledge and skills on the world of Domaining! I have 50 domains and realise that majority are not that good. There are a few little gems (I think) however have made the mistake in buying quite a few hyphenated ones which I have read good and bad remarks. It's so tempting to go ahead and spend when you start out eh?
I'm self employed and bought a few domain names back in 2001! relative to the product I sell. However I was misled by my website developers and the domain whch is a TLD was only forwarding to my site, it was not the main domain for my site. So I have taken it over and hope to develop it along with a few others, Have to learn first though.
I have over the weekend parked some on SEDO and some on NAMEDRIVE. I would like any comments on these two good and bad, as I cant decide which one to use.

My best :- Domain name registration & web hosting from 123-reg
My worst :- Flavour-berry.com - magic berry Resources and Information. This website is for sale!

look forward to learning.

whoops

Whoops my fist mistake

my best:- memoryfoam.co.uk
fmy worst:- flavour-berry.com

You sure you own memoryfoam.co.uk?

The reason I ask is because memoryfoam.co.uk is owned by The Foam Warehouse Ltd. Do your own that company?

Hi Rob, thanks for the welcome. Yes that is my company, its quite confusing as I tade as COMFORT SOLUTIONS but the domain for the site is mattress-solutions.co.uk (I know it's not ideal, however my developer said it was better to use mattress-solutons as it was product related, but so is memoryfoam!!!!

Thanks for clearing that up. memoryfoam is a killer name, I'd definitely try and get that developed if I were you.

Hi Rob,
Thanks, I have memory-foam.co.uk too. As I sell memory foam products and have been since 2001 it's a good one for me. Will have to research how to develop them.
Anyone in need of a mattress I can do discount! I Also do foam cushions.

Hi, welcome to the forum

Is memory foam not trademarked to anyone ?

If you owned memory foam when you started out then your web developer doesn't know much about internet marketing :-?

It's amazing what was available to reg back in 2001, i'm absoulutely gutted, i checked when Andrew,co,uk ( Thanks Rob ) was regged and it was only back on 18th April 2005, the day one of my kids was born :(

I regged my first domain 4 months later, i'd never regged one before that.

Shangai,co,uk was only regged in 2004 and would sell for 20k plus now.

Enjoy the forum ;)

PS* i'll give you £50 for memoryfoam,co,uk

Thanks Doodlebug, memoryfoam.co.uk not for sale I'm afraid, I had it appraised over 18 months ago on SEDO and it was £x,xxx then, so will definitely be developing it.

Re. the registration dates of "desirable" domains, I doubt that's the first time some of them were registered... that's probably the date they were dropped and caught by somebody else. I'm sure stuff like "Andrew" wasn't available in 2005, for example.

As for the "memory foam" domain, perhaps it's good you didn't choose that as the primary domain to develop as there is an active trademark in the class that would apply...

Indeed, I caught Andrew.co.uk in 2005, swapped it with the man with the golden toilet and it seems to have made it over to Robs stable :)

You let it run a wee bit past expiry there though. I was watching it. Knew it was yours and was almost tempted to PM you to renew quickly so I could get it off my watchlist ;)
