Your opinions please - is this OK?

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask peoples' opinions about something.
I was running some domain names today looking for availability in .com and .co.uk extensions. All of the names were generic two-worders.
What I found was that there were a number of names which had been registered as .co.uk but not as .com.
So my question is, what do you think about the legitimacy (or not) of registering the .com version and then offering it to the .co.uk owner?

Like a lot of domainers, you don't understand the logic of registering a .com and not a .co.uk or vice versa...for the sake of a few £ each year or so.

I find it more the case where the .com is taken (by anyone worldworld) but they don't bother with the .co.uk

I guess UK company owners don't want to shell out extra, bearing in mind they are usually more expensive than .co.uk....so selling it for even more than registration seems unlikely. Well unless their company/website is more successful than they anticipated, in which case you've every chance.

I'm not sure but I believe once you offer it to them it is seen as registering in bad faith and they could threaten with DRS and probably win. However at that point you could say it'll cost you £750+vat to take me to DRS so i'll let you have it for £400 and f not just give it to them

They are nice two-word generics, so I might just register them anyway and think about it.

If the rights holder does not have unequivocal rights to the words as they are generic in nature then I don't see a problem. The DRS is not clear cut but it seems to me that your registered the domain names because they were generic.....DRS experts have ruled that trading domain names is not unlawful/abusive per se
