I never know what to make of this, all I know is for some reason I just dont like it.

eNIC promotes it for international registration as "the next .com"

Did it become popular and then die out? Is it doing better in the US?

Reason I ask is ive seen quite a few heavily developed sites on them.

I consider reging cheapholidays.cc a while back but just could'nt bring myself to do it - i'd rather have a .me.uk

Ive seen a few key word generic type domains with lots of history on them but just cant bring myself to want one.

I think what puts me off these type of domains, .cc, .la, .tk etc is the fact that although they are marketed towards countries like USA and UK they just arnt are they.... .cc is Cocos Islands and .la is Laos

I think thats where they lose the credibility for me!

Im no expert but im really surprised by how slow they have been to be bought.
still loads of LLL.cc and quite often reasonable LL.cc are cheap.

Ive a couple un dev. and one with a bit of a blog and ive found them profitable and easy to promote the developed one.
Very quick and easy to remember.

Not a replacement for .com or .co.uk for a while to come.

.cc is not doing any better in the US. I have to agree with Mat that I just don't see the 'smaller' country TLDs becoming widely adopted anytime in the near future. Now comes my hypocritical comment. For some reason, I do like .asia. I think what appeals to me about .asia is the broader reach. It's not limited to a single country, but rather to a large section of the world. Because of that I think it will be adopted more quickly. Not trying to turn this thread into a .asia discussion. Just my thoughts on the smaller country specific TLDs vs something with a broader appeal.

I was going to say that .cc was "complete crap" but then David Hogan's post made me think otherwise. However, I think cricket club is possible the only good use for a .cc domain.
