How many people here think Nominet should allow Zone File Access again ?
I purely want the zone file because I could compare updates and work out
suspended domain names.
As it says on http://www.nic.uk/tag/fees/ ""Suspended" means that the DNS servers will not be entered into the .uk zone file"
Exactly the same as for .com .net .org .info .biz:
http://www.verisign.com/information...es/com-net-registry/page_001051.html#0100000E
"The Zone files do not contain domain names which are on the following
statuses: Registry Hold, Registrar Hold, PendingDelete, RedemptionPeriod."
These zone files are used to produce lists for the massive market in gTLD expired domain services for example:
http://www.exody.com
http://www.deleteddomains.com
http://www.domainresearchtool.com
http://www.justdropped.com
http://www.snapcheck.com
http://www.pddn.net
http://www.domainpunch.com/products/zonepro/
and so on ........
Nominet would benefit from all the extra registrations on caught domains!
Also you can do cool things like:
http://www.vh2.com - Exody DNS viper - find all domains hosted on given
nameservers.
http://www.domaintools.com/reverse-ip/ - nameintelligence reverse ip -
find all domains hosted on a given IP address.
http://www.dailychanges.com - nameintelligence daily changes - the most active nameservers in the past 24 hours.
http://www.nic.uk/tech/dnssectest/ - DNSSEC
Can you think of any other reasons why ?
Any ideas why ICANN forces the .com .net .org .biz and .info registries to allow public zone file access ?
Other than spamming and scamming what are the reasons Nominet won't provide a zone file at the moment ?
