123-reg bad choice?

Hi all,

Just started buying domains using 123reg, is it a good choice? Was a bit put off by the disclaimer after purchasing a domain that it could take up to 24hrs for site to 'clear'. Does that mean someone on a better registrar could snap up my domain in that time?

It normally does not take that long, and most include that just to cover their back.

123reg has mixed reviews from everyone, most of the time they are okay, unless you want to get in touch with them then it is a hassle.

Ive also herd of free registar sites, i take it there most be some disadvantage otherwise everyone would use them?

I wouldn't touch them personally. Did in the past but moved all mine away.
