Anyone any idea why I've purchased a domain name via 123-reg.co.uk and its still not showing on nominet as being mine?? (12 hours later)

Its still showing as unregistered.

I've set a pole on this

Do you rate 123-reg Good or Crap!

I've ticked secret answer number 3... 'absolute shite'!

Rich :)

P.S. Thread moved to: Domain Name Registrars and Internet Service Providers

123 are absolute crap these days. I think the cycle to nominet now and manually type the domain and details in. Its truly shocking.

Allthough I changed some nameservers the other day and that was pretty much instant, so they are connected to Nominet, maybe only by a 9.6kb modem though.

123's automation is very unpredictable. When I first used them years ago it was fast but there service was terrible and the website very difficult to use. They've improved the site and some people say the service has picked up (I can't qualify that because I dont use them anymore) but now their automation seems very slow. Of course all registrars suffer when Nominet's systems are under going maintenance or upgrade but in 123's case it happens when Nominet have no reported faults as well.

Rich

I have mixed reviews with them, sometimes they perform, other times are terrible.

123reg have always been good to me. I haven't registered a domain from there in a couple months but admittedly the last one I did took over an hour to show up at Nominet. Still, always been good.

they just re-billed me for a domain watcher that I bought over a year ago (before I knew about drop catching).

Sent a note to the billing department last night and within 14 hours, had an email reply and refund.

Looking better anyway,

I gave up with them a week or two ago. They simply didn't register a couple of domains. I used 1&1 for a handful. They were very slow as well.

I then started on UKREG after a reccomendation on here, and they are incredibly quick. Apart from registering all my domains as a private individual trading as, rather than a LTD company (which they will change for you), they seem good so far.

Oh, in the last week, I also joined as a Nominet and now have my own tag, just waiting for my key to activate on the Automaton. I'm enjoying the DAC though.. Been writing my dropcatch software, which is quite good fun... :-)

123-reg are the worst i've come across, even worse than uk2!! After failing to renew my domain names, they allowed them to drop. Now people saying the get responses over the last few days in 14 hours .. I have no faith in their ticketing system or them .. How easy is it to move out?

I've only got one .co.uk domain with them now but in the past I used to have loads, until that is their service went all crap about two years ago and I decided to transfer them away. From the looks of it, they seem to manually register domains by hand now, which is very amateurish.

I personally believe that they don't care that much about their domain business and so concentrate more on hosting, etc, which have higher profits.

Steady on!:-D

haha, I've had domains with UK2 when I first started. Never have I experienced this! 123-reg I'm just pleased they have an online display of communication which if needed you can used to sue them..
