Does anyone here have a 3D TV? is it worth it?
My kids want one, I wouldnt mind but the wife doesnt.

It ruins films (aside from those made primarily for the format such as Avatar), but sport is quite impressive. Though I expect the novelty would wear off quickly.

I think it's one of those things that's not worth thinking about until it comes down massively in price, you don't need glasses, and there are more channels and film options.

Hell, I don't even have an HD subscription yet because I don't think there are enough channels (that and you can watch quite a few for free).

saw some at the gadget show live last year and have to say they were impressive, however at the moment there is very little content and I think wearing the galsses would be annoying long term.

Personally I'll wait until it's available without the glasses then I think it will take off big time.

I've heard getting all the active shutter glasses setup when you have kids can be a pain also if the kids are little theres always the chance they can break them as well starting a £50 a pair this could get expensive.
I've been keeping an eye on the TV's that use passive 3d technology and cinema style glasses at just a few quid a pair much better option when the lads come round to watch the footy.
Theres a few of these on the market may get one when the prices come down a bit.

My missus has taken our son to a couple of 3D films at the cinema and he has refused to wear the glasses, so I won't be wasting my cash on a 3D tv. On the plus side, it does save a few quid going to the cinema and paying for the 2D version of films!

If Nintendo made a glasses-free 3D TV that's the same or better quality than the 3DS, I'd buy it. Especially if the price is as decent.

Haven't the "no-glasses" 3D DS screens caused loads of problems like headaches and eye strains since launch. They only recommend like 30 minutes gaming at a go before you have a good long break... hmmm well that is not going to work!

I can't see the attraction personally - quite happy to just watch an HD 2D version of a film... less stressful and easier on the eye! I think 3D is way too over-rated in current form.

Not entirely convinced it will catch on even when cheap enough - the next big thing I think will be holographic tv... see everything in the middle of your room in 3d and 'in the round' now that would be cool. Not happening any time soon though....not affordable anyways.

I've not actually known anyone who's got one to have a problem. I've played about 4 hours at a stretch without any issues - my hands start to hurt after that but my eyes are fine. TBH I think that's all scaremongering from paranoid parents and legal loopholes. It does say under 7s shouldn't use the 3D.

It's weird getting used to it at first but after about 5 mins it seems to just 'click' and then every time I've picked it up after that my eyes have adjusted instantly. Before that point I can see why people might think it causes strain if they just play test it for a minute or two.

The trouble with the 3DS screen is that its only designed for the one angle - straight in front. Which is why it won't work as a TV. Though I guess it's just a matter of time before they resolve this.

As with all new technology - it takes a while for it to be properly done. Early adopters get the worst sets at the highest prices. Wait until its proven consistent technology then get one if you're going to.

Oh its a cracking TV Samsung 51" plasma
The only trouble is the 3D Bluray player and glasses were out of stock so I have to wait until Thursday for them:(
Its got smartTV so loads of apps and full internet access and is connected up to my home network for the laptops.
