Hey guys,

The .co domain administrators have partnered with network solutions to provide a competition for $50,000.
$25,000 in web development
$25,000 in cash.

To enter, just pitch your idea. However you must have access to a US address (since its a us only competition) oh and you only have a few days left!

Here is my pitch:

Good luck if you enter! Also any votes to my pitch are appreciated.

Win the ideal .co name?

I would prefer the .com or .co.uk to be honest.

Yeah, I haven't chosen one of my best ideas, just an idea I would like to develop.

Well presumably the competition is to promote the .co domain, so that would be why :)

Great, it's only open to US residents, well I'll just buy a house in Boston and enter the competiton

Wow look at the queue for this comp'.... wait it's empty

Hey guys,
Here is my pitch:

Pitch? It says what you don't like, and what you are going to call the solution to your dislikes about availability of personal info. And it hints that you intend to build it using volunteer unpaid programmers.

How does Pico work? Does it turn Facebook's servers into pillars of salt?

The cash is just about enough to pay for a hitman to run down the Facebook founders in a stolen car - and I think it is a bit late for that.

There might be enough to build some Freeware that can be downloaded for a user to build a social node on a single website. Then the nodes could be linked together into a ring. Hmm ... this is starting to sound familiar ...

Lots of people know someone in the US they can use for their entry.

As for how... Well I am a website developer, a respected one and I have contributed to several projects like jquery, firefox and wordpress. So I will be working on it full time, as well as with the pappas group. The money + my time will be enough to develop a minimalist social network with only the best features facebook has. The site will be open source too, and I have asked my various connections and they would be happy to contribute.

The marketing will come from the $25,000 for grassroots, and should snowball from there. It is just a matter of time until facebook really trips up, or becomes less of a 'thing' in the same way myspace did. When that happens, pico should be there.
