No. I started reading about domain names about 8-9 years ago. Picked up and sold a few LLL.com's for profit, quit my job a month later and have never looked back since.
It's a numbers game.
Focusing on keyword domains that perfectly describle a product or service, and selling them at highly affordable (but profitable) margins is the key.

Well done. I've long had the view that 'in general' Acorners don't do this and are missing out. Over the years I've put about 15 minutes per MONTH into something like this and its sold me a few names at good prices (4 figures). Theres an opportunity here to do this at the next level up. Of course, you have to be a self motivated, organised type. I've tried a friend or two on doing this for my names on a commission basis and I'm convinced it's got potential but most people are a bit lazy I think!

For some businesses #1 is suffice, simply have a website, add to business cards, letter heads, printed marketing materials, why bother with #2 & 3 as not every website i visited and procurred services from has bothered.
There are mutliple uses for domain names and not everybody follows the mainstream
I would just like to point out that clients I have worked with have bought keyword domains like this for these kinds of low end prices. We have put very small wordpress sites on them and had them naturaly rank over time and bring in thousands of pounds of extra leads a year.
As a domainer I have also contacted managing directors of some pretty big companies directly and had them buy these kinds of keyword domains from me for £xxxx without batting an eyelid, with no kind of hard sell.
Some of these are still redirected/parked to this day, but firstly it stops it getting into the hands of competitors and also something that they may want to develop out in the future.
As an example I sold one years back, it sat there doing nothing for years but now has a great site on it which is targetting and selling one of their most popular products separately.

Absolutely Mat, I see no logic at all in criticising what happens to them. I've sold names that with less naivety I probably wouldn't have bought in the first place but done well with them e.g. Range-Rover (just googled the biggest franchises) which I sold to Perrys and it redirects to their site. Perhaps they market with it for memorability, I dont know, it doesnt matter to me. I sold oldspice.co.uk too...

Just about every advert/promotional material you see or hear boasts some kind of benefit to your lifestyle, health or financial status.
Take nicorettes for example, yeah if you use them they might help you stop smoking like they say. It will take some effort from you to achieve success though.
If you put them in the cupboard and leave them for a year they won't help at all.
Same with a domain, it's up to the buyer to do what they want with it and decide how much effort they want to apply to make it worth the money they paid.

There's keyword domains then there's keyword domains, they aren't all equal
I also find a difference between being approached and approaching someone.
It's much more like me saying "I don't like oranges" then everyone saying "ooo this guy hates all fruit!" no, I don't hate all fruit.. I just don't like oranges.

Whatever works - last I saw any business was about profit. If you're domaining for the 'love' of it or for an 'ideal' you should perhaps be doing something else. No this post is not aimed at anyone in particular just pointing out that it seems to be domaining that causes people to be self righteous and judgemental.
