Hi all. Having a rant and need some advice.

I've sent over £75k's worth of sales to a merchant in the last week via a well known affiliate network.

I'm due roughly 5% of the sales value. However, the reporting on the affiliate network site went a bit wonky last Tuesday, which I reported straight away (sales showed daily, but not in other reports such as overall comms for the period).

Today I had this response to a support ticket ...

"Hi,

I believe there may have been a technical error within your reporting. From the affiliates side, I can only see sales up to Monday.

Sorry for this confusion."

.... and that was it. No "I'll contact the merchant and sort" ... which is what I was hoping for. Have replied asking them to rectify the issue.

I've kept copies of the daily reports that show the sales. Has anybody had experience of this sort of thing? Is contacting the merchant direct an option, or is it likely I've lost these sales/comms.

Need alcohol!!

Thanks all.

Yes it's worth contacting the merchant and ensuring any future communication is between you and the network/merchant combined.

I have pursued a similar claim in the courts with merchant and network both named as jointly liable. They settled out of court pdq.

It is essential you keep records of everything.

Thanks dazc. Much appreciated. I'll take copies of everything.

Perhaps I'm being a bit premature, and should wait. Initial response from them didn't fill me with confidence though.

I'm always a bit suspect of affiliate tracking. Think that's my age though ... getting old and cynical!!

thats a fair bit of revenue your handing them, i would've thought the network (and the merchant if they got a sniff of trouble) would be attentive to getting this sorted for you

can you go one tier up and speak to a senior at the network?

i can safely say i'd be more than miffed!

hope you get it sorted

They've acknowledged a 'technical error' and got their IT dept on it. Sent a few customers through yesterday, and sales are tracking fine now. Just waiting for a reply to my last ticket, then I'll query these incorrectly tracked sales again (if not addressed). They have amounts and times, so to my mind, should be able to liaise with the merchant to sort. Hope so anyway!
