The names alone i think have very little value.

from your brief statement the business model looks odd. If he is developing the site then it would make little sense from him to pull you onboard just because you hold the domain names - personally if i was him i'd offer you money for the names or walk away?

If you're going to be a partner in the business then i would freely give the domains to the business and take a cut of the overall business value and not be arguing with a business partner at this early stage.

perhaps you need to elaborate a little - else sell the names for £500 and walk away. Plenty of alts:

It happens on dotcom a bit apparantly, there was an article on a telly? domain a few months back saying he'd allowed people to buy it off him a decade or more ago but he kept a percentage share in the domain or something like that. Not sure the above are worth that, only the two involved would I suppose?

more like a lease then?
if it was cars.com or something then i'd understand a lease arrangement been benifical not having the funds to perhaps buy the domain outright to start with
