Is there any chance we can stop all this?

This forum has been going downhill for weeks now.

I don't know why I bother anymore....

It fair enough if someone wants to sell a domain that they've not used, maybe cash in on something they don't want to develop but someone else might...but this constant trail of new reg's is beyond belief.

LISTEN

The domain business (.co.uk et all) has gone, you've missed the boat, it's finished..... DEAD!

I don't even bother catching anymore

If there's still a good name out there your chance of finding it is .0001%

april showers .co.uk
sunny weather .co.uk
light drizzle .co.uk

Please stop wasting your money and my time with this shite.

Please.....

BTW.... am I banned now?

He's asking £90 not £900.

I sold livetechnology.co.uk for £120 recently tt-uk.co.uk for £50 just to get rid of it, crazy.org.uk for a good sum, all picked up in the last month / year, so £18 turned into three figures. Who's to say buying and selling recently dropped domains is a waste of time?

If that's a waste of time, I'd like to know what getting up at 8am and going to work for someone else is called... yes making a living, but so is the above without doing the hours or the work. Just with risk. And if it aint your risk, what's your problem?

Even if you are just talking about domains that are just lying around, I've picked up a couple that have just been laying around and made a few thousand and quite a few I've kept for development which are blinding and don't forget lyrics, wasn't that just laying around waiting to be turned into £45,000. Few and far between but if one brings £500 as it has done, again, where's the problem?

The DAC was down

Johnny had a skinfull.

Pulled some minger.

Got up in the middle of the night .... and thought

Can't do this

AH

Domains

And got lucky.......

Jonnhy will tell you, that's exactly how it happened.

No Ellis you aren't banned.

Who am I to judge what is a good domain and what is crap? This is such an unpredictable area, I have sold "Crap" domains for good money in the past.

All I can do is enforce that people put the domain for sales in the thread title to save you having to click on any threads that you see as a waste of time.

Thoughts anyone?

If I remember correctly Lyrics was one of the first 'liquidated company' domains to be dropped randomly by nominet when the nominet/bona vawhetever agreement ended. I dont think it had anything to do with the dac being down, noone knew it was going to drop. Please correct me if i'm wrong tho.

The rest of the story, ratboy/skinfull/minger is all accurate as far as I know :)

Does Old Compton Street close early nowadays?

Not sure, is that your old haunt is it?

See that personal abuse is removed before I get to see it.

Ref: enforcing name in thread.

JMO - Think it should be optional as buyers have implicitly asked me that the sale info be removed in the past, especially if they are looking to re-sell...

I have to respect their requests as it can cause issues if they are seeking to sell on as potential customers are able to see it was sold for XXX and they could be asking X,XXX+... The buyer does a search in goog, finds a thread and POW the deals off because the name was seen to be bought for xxx or worse xx.

Like reporting for listing in 'domain sales', I think it should be optional because of this very fact.
Also the reason I have to use privacy on my e*ay auctions too...

For me, the buyers wishes always come first...

I know when I've bought in the past, I've shunned stuff just because its listed in the header and will be there for all and sundry to see...

Aside from that, best not get into possible breaches of human rights, freedom of expression, right to privacy etc, by enforcing such policy... lol (only joking;) )

SERIOUSLY though, from experience, buyers appreciate discretion...

I see nothing wrong with Preds thread

As for enforcement as is is fine

Friday night post pub on acorn.... ace! :)

If you let those posh nobs from the gutter talk down to you, especially when they're from up North, they'll think they're the new upper class, he's certainly acting like he's there already. You've got to pity him really, walking around with both thumbs up his harris all day can't be easy.

It might explain why he resorts to writing crap when he sits on the keyboard though.

oi !

nothing wrong with northerners - take that back or I will set my whippet on you! :)

flat caps at dawn! ;)

I think a sales thread is a sales thread - no comments

What i dont really like is the probing for a sale
£2000k ......er anyone......er £1200........hummm........bargain £500..........last chance £50????...please?:???:
a name is a name - if you think you can get a buyer or have a website idea then then you'll buy it - i dont really think theres such a thing as a bargain name, you either want it or you don't at the asked price - hence why sedo/fcdomains will say that you're more likely to sell at fixed price. Then more than anything its a matter of right place, right time.
(I dont do one word true generics i imagine this might be slightly different)
