I would have paid 2000 but that extra .01p counted me out…….

Seen it done on so many different type of auctions and sales threads it’s comical..

There have been a number screwed for shill bidding in the news, this was the first.

Related to that article above is a quote below about how another act could be used against shill bidders (taken from another legal website):

The relevance of the Fraud Act 2006 to shill bidding

Whilst Mr Barrett was prosecuted under the Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008 and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 a person bidding against themselves on eBay could also be prosecuted under the Fraud Act 2006.

Where people agree to bid on each other’s items the parties could be prosecuted for the offence of conspiracy to defraud, which makes it a criminal offence for parties to agree to defraud another party.

the ebay members are new members and look to be similar usernames
bloody joke if it's them again

the whois though, is it them? or one of their aliases?

No matter who it is, it's shill bidding to get the price up to that level on that domain!! Wouldn't sell for £2 on here.

I didn't see any resemblence in the whois details, just in the shill bidding!

No-one is going to buy that piece of crap domain, so they're just wasting their own time.

Should be a report button on ebay.

If you phoned the old bill saying you'd been stabbed they wouldn't do much, I certainly can't see them doing anything about an ebay seller.

ebay needs to clamp down harder on BS sellers like this, there are several areas now where ebay is so overrun with spam and false bids that it's not even worth looking. Domains / sites is definetely one of them

The bacon love an open and shut case, it looks good on their reports.

Cases like this are as easy as fax to ebay (yeah fax how 90s), ebay provide the details and investigation (its performed by ebay to verify if shill bidding occurred) then the police simply close the coffin.

I would suggest they realise it's not going to get that price. What they could then do is try and flip it on a forum and say 'it sold for 4 grand on ebay but I'll take 2 grand for it' - and some idiot will probably take the bait....
