Are single word domains with (what I would consider) obscure extensions like hn, ws, ag, sc, vc and cc worth buying? I usually use 1and1 to register domains and they are selling them between £30 and £90 + vat.

In hindsight, might I wish i'd bought a few dictionary word domains with these extensions or are they not worth the annual registration fees?

Cheers,
Gary

Gary, in my experience they are not worth it at all. I only own one .hn and that's whois.hn, as it was simply the only available extension for that name when I was looking. And I'm not thinking of renewing it. Just my 2p.

FWIW - Top generic phrases will almost always get more than the reg fee in any extension - hotels, sex, xxx, search, country codes, music, mp3 etc.

DNSalePrice.com is your friend! They have these sales from sedo listed (though there are probably other sales):

Poker hn $825 Mar 07 Sedo Auction 1 5 N N http://Poker.hn Sedo
TV hn $1,000 Jan 06 Sedo 1 2 N N http://TV.hn DNJournal
DE hn $3,982 Oct 05 Sedo 1 2 N N http://DE.hn DNJournal

I sold diamonds and mortgages on the .vc extension for $xxx each a while back. There is slight profit in top generics on these extensions, but not massive amounts.
