Are .org.uk still worth buying?

Hi All,

I was just looking for a city word and noticed its .org.uk was/is available. As it is a capital city I wondered if it is worth buying or has .org.uk become spammy or useless etc?

I bought one a few years back as it was an EMD. I would have got the .co.uk if it was available and would still prefer it, but anyway I can't say I can think of any reasons why I wouldn't buy it again if I had to. I can compare it somewhat to a .co.uk I have in the same niche and I'm pretty sure nobody takes any notice that it's a .org.uk.

I wonder how much extra you would have paid for the .co.uk instead of the .org.uk? (for example, if you paid £50 for the .org.uk would you have paid £500 for the .co.uk?)

Not too sure about that. At the time it wasn't a serious purchase, just an experiment really. I didn't use it for a while either. The .org.uk was free to reg and the .co.uk was quite established with a site on it. Thinking about it though the .org.uk isn't too bad a match for the content. If it was a business or brand name then I wouldn't buy the .org.uk.

Just to add that the town where I live has a .org website. Personally I think cityname.org.uk is fine, maybe more so than cityname.co.uk. I think cityname.uk would be best though.
