I have have had an offer (via namedrive) on bbuk.co.uk for $5000.

many uses, basketball, big brother, betting etc etc.

Looks genuine (email address phone number in US)

Whilst this has always been the plan, I've never actually had an offer before so bit unsure how to proceed as
1. I don't want to get ripped off by a scam
2. Don't want to sell too cheap
3. Unsure of sequence of events, does buyer in US make any difference?

How does offer sound?
a) I should bite his hand off as I'd be lucky to get reg fee back
b) Way too low should tell him not interested unless up offer to $lots
c) About right accept offer.

Assuming offer is genuine and not supposed to be $50.00, as I've often read here that people always make riiculously low offers first.

Anyone fancy acting as a broker for a percentage fee (got to be no win no fee though cos I'm broke).

Any advice appreciated.

Yes you could negotiate but, you run the risk if they walk.

US buyer no different from UK - except location...

As for broker, you don't need one.
Transfer process, still the same.
Use PayPal or Escrow.

Don't use Paypal for a transaction like this, you aren't covered as domains aren't tangable. And the buyer could charge back at any time.

Yes you are covered...

You just need to ensure the buyer places the domain name being purchased in the comments section when paying...

I've never used the premium service so cant say. I Usually ask the buyer to pay the fees, or go halves if its a decent sale. Personally I'd go halves on a $5k sale.

Because nobody would come in with an offer that high, if they were being serious.

A serious offer would have been more like $200, which could have been negotiated.

However it's always worth accepting and see what happens.

It is an oddly high offer, however wouldnt be totally unknown.

I would invite the person to give you a ring then get them to deposit the cash in escrow.com and then enact the transfer.

On a previous occasion I received a high offer on a domain outside of Sedo which I accepted, the buyer then tells me someone in the UK owed him money (more than the domain price) and he would get that person to send me a cheque and I could just forward him the difference.

Yeah right, and the original cheque no doubt bounces 6 weeks later.

Be a bit wary with someone coming in with a large offer straight off.

I've heard of this with cars but didn't realise had spread to domains, but I guess it doesn't surprise me...

I accepted the offer at the weekend but have not heard anything since and although it will be nice if I do, I'm not holding my breath.

Not heard a thing so I guess he isn't interested after all, looked genuine but I bet they all say that. I have got a phone number in US but probably not worth the price of a phone call.
