There are limited options for UK specific Website buyers in terms of a platform, different places look for different factors to what they consider to be valuable.

For example id imagine most here would look at the domain value more than than a general buyer would, sites such as flippa (There are UK buyers there too) people tend to look at multiples of revenue and have very little focus for anything else.

Some higher value buyers which you only find through closed groups of people often value a more rounded outlook such as domain value/authority, Under used Mailing lists , social aspects, traffic and over all potential, they often keep a 3rd eye on Facebook domain and Site sales pages too but only pipe up if there is something of interest, as with any page open to the masses you will always attract the idiots who derail everything and anything.

On the other side of things if the site is profitable you maybe able to sell it as a business rather than website.

Off the top of my head i cant think of anywhere other than flippa, Sedo, businessesforsale.com and various forums ( like mentioned above ) that are available publicly.

Never thought of domainlore , is that ok to use non-uk TLD's ? although still targeting the UK audience ?

Thanks will look at Flippa also.

Flippa is your best bet, you could also tryout selling on ebay, I've seen a couple of decent domain auctions recently, same with websites, with either flippa or ebay you need to have a good sales letter when trying to sell the website, including stuff like web hosting, free seo guides etc will help improve the auction.

Take a look around some of the popular items on flippa at the moment and you'll get the idea, most of them use a pretty similar template/style which is easy enough to copy

I think a lot of the time people can't sell their sites simply because they ask for unreasonable amounts

They say "the site currently earns £65 a month, but I believe with some work it could earn £2000, so I want £14,000"

It's crazy.

To be fair, I have bought a fair few sites that have been advertised on that basis and they have worked out well for me (and a couple haven't!) But it is hit and miss and the risk is all part of it I guess.

Additionally, people will pay more for a site in their niche if they know how to work it. Been there and done that too..

What I can't stand are sites that have just had a few templates thrown on them and have zero traffic and then people expect the world in return - well done to them, you paid a designer - I could do the same and we'd both be at the same point..

I got started on buying sites on ebay years ago, I remember I bought a shocking ebookstore site for about £25, installed a nicer template, made a logo and stuck it back on and got about £300!

I think earnings rather than potential earnings are the biggest seller.

Flippa has the largest buyer base, but it can be tricky due to the large volume of websites for sale there. There are also other forums, as mentioned above and also Digitalpoint.
