hi

please can anyone suggest or advise a good laptop for 500-600£ please.

One that can handle the adobe suite very well though and can render fast( after effect, illustrator, photoshop, ppro, cinema 4d).

thanks in advance

I'd look at something with an AMD64 processor and 3 or 4 GB of RAM, with at least two internal 150GB drives for that price. HP do a good range - 'Pavilion'. I paid about £600 for mine at that spec about 18 months ago.

Given your requirements, I'd suggest that you get one that has its own graphics card memory, and doesn't 'share' system RAM. Been a while since I checked current specs.

Not sure on prices but bought a £700 Toshiba a year ago, when running domain scripts it often overheats and shuts down.

I'd use a desktop with decent fans next time.

I feel Dell laptops offer good value.

The Samsung laptop I bought earlier this year has so far been reliable.

The Toshiba laptop I bought last year was not reliable, it started developing some problems, shutting down at random. This may have something to do with having an early version of Vista, but I wasn't that pleased with it.

Rgds

My GF still has a ongoing problem with her Toshiba shutting down. We have sent it back 4 times and it is still not fixed. Customer support is terrible!!!!
