bribing affiliates to move links

The flaw in your blog post (I think) is that the 20% network fee is 20% of what the affiliate is paid so in your example the ecommerce site can only boost their commission from 5% to 6% by cutting out the network before they start losing money compared to the previous situation.

Of course there are probably a number of other benefits to having affiliates in house (which may be worth paying above and beyond for), but from a purely monetary viewpoint the network fee offers less bonus possibilities than you might expect.

I have no experience of this but I'd imagine that any affiliate network worth their onions would have an anti-poaching clause in there that prevents the merchant from doing such things. It would also lay out what would happen if the merchant did do it - ie paying some compo over to the network.

doug see my reply to your mouth-piece

Whats needed is a premium Affiliate network that only takes the best, professional affiliates that have proven track record and can provide quality leads.

Instead we have a gormless miasma of web designer nobjocks provided by (AW & AF) with no real coding skills or understanding of internet business, whacking up trashy, freetemplate sites with my banners on, I woukldnt mind if they actually had any traffic!! - well done.

dougy baby, why dont you start a 'Super Affilate Network' I can't anyone else doing it at the moment?
